Coroner to Conduct Autopsy on Man Killed in Orange

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed today on the body of a transient found on a street in Orange, according to authorities.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed today on the body of a transient found on a street in Orange, possibly the victim of a hit-and- run crash.

The body of the 37-year-old man was discovered about 6:15 a.m. Tuesday on Tustin Street, between Collins and Quincy avenues, Orange police Sgt. Fred Lopez said. The man had suffered "massive head trauma," he said.

"The Orange Police Department ... is investigating the death as a possible hit-and-run collision," Lopez said.

An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for today.

Authorities know the man's identity, but the name was withheld pending family notification, Lopez said, adding he was a known transient.

Tustin Street was closed in the area until about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday while an investigation was conducted. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Orange police at (714) 744-7444.
