UPDATED: Fountain Valley Ambulance Crash Injures 6

FOUNTAIN VALLEY - Six people were injured when a van slammed into an ambulance causing it to overturn in a Fountain Valley intersection Friday afternoon.

The accident happened at Euclid Street and Warner Avenue near Fountain Valley Regional Hospital at 1:40 p.m, according to Fountain Valley Police Department Lt. Matt Sheppard. With lights and sirens blaring, the ambulance was rushing a patient to the hospital when the accident occurred, Sheppard said.

“The investigation revealed a passenger van was traveling eastbound Warner Ave and collided into an Ambulance that was traveling southbound Euclid,” Sheppard said. “The initial collision caused the ambulance to roll onto the side.”

One person in the van and all five people in the ambulance were transported to the hospital. Investigators don’t believe impairment is a factor in the crash, but the cause remains under investigation.THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY. PLEASE REFRESH THE SCREEN FOR UPDATES
