Fountain Valley PD Arrest Man Suspected of Stealing from Gym Lockers

The arrest was made after Martin Trinh allegedly tried to sell a stolen iPhone on Craigslist.

From the Fountain Valley Police Department:

On Wednesday, the Fountain Valley Police Department Detective Bureau arrested Martin Trinh (19) from Westminster on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property.

On 5-1-14 Trinh allegedly stole an iPhone 5 from a gym locker at Anytime Fitness in Fountain Valley and sold the phone on Craigslist.

The buyer became suspicious when the phone was de-activated and ran the serial number through an online database. This search revealed the phone had been reported stolen.

Trinh was identified as the seller of the phone via investigative resources and social media.

Trinh was arrested at his residence without incident and admitted to the theft. Further investigation revealed Trinh had allegedly stolen an iPod from the same gym approximately one month ago. This incident was not initially reported to the police.

Both the iPhone and iPod were subsequently recovered. Trinh was booked at Orange County Jail and is being held on $20,000 bail.
