Girls' Water Polo: Los Amigos' Title Hopes Turned Back in Final Seconds

Los Amigos had a chance to tie the score in the final seconds, but the Lobos' luck was stopped by a sure-handed goalie as Santa Ana Valley scored an 8-7 victory Saturday to win the Southern Section Division 7 championship for girls' water polo.

It's the second consecutive title for Santa Ana Valley (24-7) at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine.

It was a disappointment for Los Amigos (18-8), which had a chance to tie the score in the finals seconds. However,

Leticia Zacarias' effort was blocked by goalkeeper Gabby Chavez, who had 12 saves.

Brianna Salas had two goals for Los Amigos, which went into the last period tied at 6-6. Salas, the career scoring leader for Los Amigos, didn't score after the first quarter.

Getzamany Reyes added two goals for the Lobos.
