Olympics 'Bittersweet,' Says Gold Medalist-Turned-Firefighter

Fountain Valley native Lovie Jung, who played for the U.S. Women's National softball team, talks about quickly fading Olympic glory with the Orange County Register.

A Fountain Valley native who won Olympic medals in 2004 and 2008 called the whole experience "bittersweet," the Orange County Register reports

"Looking back, I still think it's worth it," said two-time U.S. Olympic softball second baseman Lovie Jung, who won the gold in 2004 in Athens and a silver medal in 2008 in Beijing.

"But a lot of people don't realize how bittersweet the Olympics are for most of us. It's a great event until it's over. Then it's back to reality."
