Heating Bills to Rise More than Last Year as Temperatures Drop

Customers living in apartments or enrolled in our CARE program will see a smaller increase.

The city of Fountain Valley has shared an advisory issued by the Gas Company on what residents can expect from their winter heating bills. Of course rates will increase. Below is the advisory that can also be found on the city’s site.

This winter, Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) residential customers can expect monthly natural gas heating bills to be somewhat higher than last year. Customers living in apartments or enrolled in our CARE program will see a smaller increase.

Based on current energy industry price projections, residential customers consuming 83 therms of natural gas per month are likely to see a winter peak natural gas bill of about $88, as compared with $79 last year.

Small business customers using 300 therms of natural gas a month may see monthly bills of about $297, as compared with $278 last winter.

Medium-sized business customers using 500 therms of natural gas may see monthly bills of about $443, as compared with $414 last winter.

The projected increase is due to rising costs of maintaining safe and reliable service and slightly higher natural gas commodity prices.
