How Fountain Valley Students Score In CA Standardized Tests

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA —The standardized test results are back from the 2017-2018 school year, and three districts in Orange County have risen to the top-10 in the state, according to reports. Orange County schools finished higher by average, than other counties across the state, some faring better than others.

Scores for the tests are separated into four levels of achievement: standards exceeded, met, nearly met and not met.

The Fountain Valley School District showed that 73-percent met or exceeded state standards in math, the highest among our OC districts, while 75-percent met or exceeded state standards in English, even with last year's scoring. According to the Daily Pilot, this was higher than the California state testing average.

According to the state, these test scores will be the litmus test of the California School Dashboard, a new method for evaluating school performance.

The state Department of Education will use the test results in conjunction with suspension rates, graduation rates, chronic absenteeism figures, college and career readiness data, and other measures to determine if schools and districts are making adequate progress.
