A 47-year-old Huntington Beach man was sentenced Friday to 55 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting a 4-year-old relative he was babysitting.
Gordon Ray Bodkin was babysitting the victim to whom he is related when he was interrupted while sexually assaulting the girl Aug. 9, 2011, Deputy District Attorney Karyn Stokke said.
The girl's father, who had gone to the home to pick up his daughter, saw Bodkin standing over the girl wearing only a T-shirt, according to prosecutors.

Bodkin grabbed his clothes and ran away, according to prosecutors.
Bodkin was convicted of sexual intercourse with a child younger than 10 and sexual penetration of a child younger than 10, both felonies.

Before sentencing, Orange County Superior Court Judge M. Marc Kelly denied a motion for a new trial.
