Illegal Fireworks Burn Building, Cause Evacuations In Yorba Linda
Illegal fireworks exploded in Yorba Linda, setting pallets outside aflame and endangering a nearby neighborhood, according to OCFA.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Orange County Fire Authority responded to a fully involved structure fire overnight in Yorba Linda on the right side of an industrial building. The fireworks apparently ignited multiple pallets creating an explosive fire, according to OCFA photos.
Evacuations were ordered during the event, according to OCFA. "Battalion 2 units with the assistance from Brea and Fullerton Fire" all reported to the fully involved structure in the 3000 block of Prospect in the City of Yorba Linda, they said.
"A large exterior fire threatened the building," the OCFA spokesperson said. Orange County Sheriff's Department began evacuating nearby homes that were immediately threatened by the fire.

Firefighters worked to lay down the fire, and over the course of several hours, the fire was placed under control without extending into two commercial structures.
"Units performed forcible entry and confirmed a primary all clear and no extension" to surrounding buildings. No nearby homes caught fire as a result of the blaze, and officers allowed residents back into their homes.

Investigators learned that the cause of the fire was due to the usage of illegal fireworks. It is not currently known if any arrests were made as a result of the incident.
