Minivan Collides With Tree, 5 Injured Overnight In Northwest OC

A minivan and sedan crashed in Westminster, sending the larger car careening into a tree; five people suffered traumatic injuries: OCFA

WESTMINSTER, CA — Five people were taken to hospitals Monday night after a minivan and sedan collided in a Westminster intersection.

During the crash, the minivan also struck a tree in the center divider in the area of Westminster and Beach Boulevards. The vehicle was on its side when police and firefighters arrived, Westminster police Cpl. Allan Aiokie said.

Firefighters had to pry open the doors to free them, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Tony Bommarito.

Four people inside suffered traumatic injuries, with two taken to OC Global Medical Center and two taken to UCI Medical Center, Bommarito said. One person with moderate injuries was taken to Huntington Beach Hospital.

The crash was under investigation, police said.
