Mobile Home Park Residents Submit Rent Control Petition
More than 100 residents of Fountain Valley Estates ask City Council to put a discussion of rent control on the agenda.
Residents of a Fountain Valley mobile home park want to talk rent control, and they want to talk now.
Homeowners from the submitted a petition signed by more than 100 people to the City Council last night, requesting that officials put a discussion of rent control on the agenda before September.

Resident Dana Miranda said that she and her neighbors have been asking the council to agendize the item for months.
“You have ignored our pleas,” Miranda said. “We’ve given you a chance to respond.”

Before public comments at the end of the meeting, Mayor John Collins said that because of a high number of public speakers he would limit the second public comments portion to three minutes per person.
“You have to give us five minutes,” Miranda said. “You have to give us a chance to allow us to speak to save our homes.”
The City Attorney said that because of Brown Act requirements, councilmembers were unable to respond during council session to public comments made on issues not on the agenda.
