Online School Students Host Drive to Benefit Ronald McDonald House

Dozens of students, families and teachers from California Virtual Academy (CAVA) @San Diego participated in a donation drive for the Ronald McDonald House in Orange County. California Virtual Academy students distributed crayons, coloring books and baked cookies for the children at the Ronald McDonald House, decorated a large banner for the Ronald McDonald House which will be hung in the hallway, and made ”Get Well Soon” cards.

In addition to distributing supplies, families and students had the opportunity to tour the Ronald McDonald House. While on the tour, CAVA families and students has the opportunity to also meet with former Philadelphia Eagles football player, Fred Hill, who along with his wife, Kim Hill, helped start the Ronald McDonald House in 1974.
“Everybody had a great time and really felt like they did something today that made a tangible difference to others, and they all want to go back!” said Cynthia Tkalec, Family Support Coordinator for CAVA.
