Orange County Raises Nearly $1.6 M to Fight Heart and Stroke Disease

American Heart Association of Orange County announces it's success in the effort to fight heart and stroke disease from the OC Heart Walk

The Orange County Heart & Stroke Walk/Run held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 was a huge success, raising nearly $1.6 M. Wendy Burch of KTLA served as the witty and captivating emcee of the event. Angel Stadium of Anaheim was abuzz all morning with nearly 10,000 walkers pouring through the gates to honor the legacy of loved ones who have passed as well as heart disease and stroke survivors.

Andrew Soffa of SASCO was the top individual fundraiser this year with $56,640 raised. This year, team SASCO raised more than $70,000 for the OC Heart Walk. SASCO has been a long-time supporter of the American Heart Association and continues to aid in the mission of reducing cardiovascular disease and stroke by twenty percent by the year 2020.

Another team that stole the show was McCarthy headed by Randy Highland, president of McCarthy’s California region. The team raised over $45,000 for the OC Heart Walk and had fun doing it. Walkers of all ages (and even some in strollers) represented team McCarthy at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.
