ORANGE COUNTY WATER 4 KIDS INTERNATIONAL "WALK 4 WATER 5K" EVENT
Average American Girl: walks a few feet to a faucet to get clean water. Average African Girl: walks 5K, each way, just to get dirty water

WHAT
More walkers are needed for the 6th Annual Water 4 Kids International (W4KI) “Walk 4 Water 5K” Fundraising Event.
Organized by the community of Orange County in partnership with W4KI, this annual 5K event represents the average length that women, and most often young girls, in Africa walk each way to fetch contaminated water for their families. On average, 26% of an African child’s day is spent collecting water, a life necessity that robs them of their safety and health, as well as their future.
In its first five years, this Walk has raised funds for 12 wells in Uganda. Over the past seven years, events held like this around the country have helped raise enough money to drill over 325 wells in East Africa.

These deepwater wells, at a cost of $10,150 each to build, can provide access to safe water to nearly 10,000 people.
W4KI Walk 4 Water typically brings out more than 350 people to help raise money for water wells in Africa. More participants are always welcome. W4KI is a division of Hope 4 Kids International.

Water 4 Kids International (W4KI), a division of Hope 4 Kids International, brings hope to disadvantaged children affected by extreme poverty and preventable diseases. Many deadly, oftentimes treatable, diseases result from drinking from unclean water sources. W4KI responds by drilling deepwater wells in remote villages throughout East Africa and Central India. Clean water is one of the best ways to prevent diseases in remote villages in which an ailment such as diarrhea is often fatal. We strategically drill wells in communities close to primary schools, medical clinics, and trading centers.
Hope 4 Kids International is a Christian nonprofit organization whose mission is to restore hope around the world by empowering kids to break the cycle of extreme poverty. Our comprehensive approach addresses the whole person – spirit, soul and body – to not only meet urgent needs, but also to create lasting life transformation.
