Pedestrian Hit, Killed by Big Rig in Huntington Beach

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a big rig Tuesday afternoon in Huntington Beach, and the driver was located a short distance away, police said.

The collision at Springdale Street and Warner Avenue was reported about 1:55 p.m. Police were told the  truck's driver did not stop after striking the woman, said Huntington Beach police Lt. Mitch O'Brien.

Officers tracked down the trucker a short distance away, O'Brien said. It was unclear if any charges would result as investigators were still interviewing witnesses and questioning the driver, he said.

Police did not immediately release the names of the victim or the driver.
