Detonated Pipe Bomb Found in Anaheim: Police

Police received a report of an explosion in Anaheim around 1:50 p.m.

ANAHEIM, CA - A bomb squad was investigating after a detonated pipe bomb was found against a concrete wall in the west alley of Anaheim Boulevard, police said.

The Anaheim Police Department received a call of a possible explosion in the 600 block of North Anaheim Boulevard around 1:50 p.m. The detonated bomb was found along the wall of a business that was closed at the time and no injuries were reported, police said.

Brief evacuations were ordered but have since been lifted once the bomb squad deemed everything was safe. A bomb squad is currently on scene and the investigation is underway.

The location where the pipe bomb was found is a little over 3 miles from Disneyland. The LA Times reports police in Anaheim responded to a bank robbery on Friday where a suspect reportedly left behind a pipe bomb. However, investigators found that the bomb was actually a "realistic hoax."
