Roads in 2 City Blocks To Get Makeovers

City staff expect construction to begin the first week of July.

Fountain Valley will start renovating roads in two city blocks starting this summer, according to city staff.

The two affected blocks rest in the northwestern section of the city. One block is bordered by Edinger Avenue to the north, Magnolia Street to the west, Bushard Street to the east and Heil Avenue to the north. The other block is bordered by Warner Avenue to the north, Magnolia to the west, Bushard to the east and Slater Avenue to the south.

According to city staff, workers will place new asphalt on residential streets that have been worn down by weather and continual use. Crews will also replace damaged sidewalks, curbs and gutters, as well as replant a number of parkway trees.

City staff expects construction to begin the first week of July and finish by September. Work will take place 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

"Your streets may be closed for up to four hours during construction; however, access to residences will be maintained,” reads a statement from on the city’s website.

“No parking” signs will be posted 48-hours before work begins.
