For the Third Time, Drug Dog Finds Marijuana Farm in the Same Industrial Center

For the third time since April of last year, police in Orange County found a marijuana growth operation in the same industrial complex.

About 600 live plants and 100 pounds of packaged marijuana -- valued at about $500,000 -- were discovered about 7 a.m. Monday in an industrial suite in the 700 block of Monroe Way, according to Placentia Police Department Lt. Eric Point.

Officer Chris Anderson and his drug-sniffing dog, Habo, found the pot, the third time the canine has found cannabis in the complex, Point said.

On July 27, police seized about 500 marijuana plants and 100 pounds of packaged cannabis with an estimated street value of $300,000 during a search of a different suite in the same complex, Point said.

In April 2014, marijuana was found in the same suite as on July 27, and two suspects were arrested in that seizure, Point said.

In the most recent search, the marijuana growers attempted to throw the dog off the scent by burning fragrance crystals in crock pots by the suite’s entrance, Point said.
