Tow Truck Flips, Pile-Up Causes SigAlert

A series of wrecks, including a tow truck that flipped at the junction of the 405/55 freeways, are tying up local freeways.

A SigAlert, which started with a three-car crash on the northbound 55 Freeway at 17th Street, is expected to last until roughly 3:30 p.m.. The three cars are blocking the carpool lane, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatcher.

As of 3:14 p.m., emergency responders were still in route to the the northbound 405/55 junction where a tow truck driver and his passenger were trapped after the truck rolled into a ditch while towing a vehicle. Cars are inching past the accident scene.
