Victim Blames Own Tool Bag for Petty Theft

A Fountain Valley resident reported a petty theft involving his vehicle on Aug. 12, 11:17 a.m. on Santa Rita St.
Unknown suspect(s) discovered the unlocked trunk of his vehicle and removed several pieces of property before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction. No witnesses were found. The victim blamed the tool bag in his trunk for interfering with the trunk's locking mechanism on his vehicle.
Victim valued the loss at $650.

Vehicle Tampering. Aug. 12, 9:38 a.m. 0 block San Bruno Carport. Unknown suspect(s) smashed driver's side rear window. Unknown suspect(s) used an unknown object and fled in an unknown direction. Doors still locked. Property damage estimated at $700.
Vehicle Burglary. Aug. 12, 10:02 a.m. 0 block Warner Carport. Unknown suspect(s) gained access to locked vehicle using unknown tool to break rear passenger window. Suspect(s) entered vehicle, removed two jackets. Fled scene undetected. Value of loss: $60.
Vehicle Burglary. Aug. 8, 4:17 p.m. 0 block Circulo De Zapata. Unknown suspect(s) entered victim's vehicle by unknown means, removed property from inside vehicle and fled scene in an unknown direction. Crime reported several hours after it occurred. Value of loss: $205
Vehicle Burglary. Aug. 9, 2:53 p.m. 0 block Santa Andrea. Unknown suspect(s) entered locked vehicle by unknown means. Suspect(s) removed property from inside vehicle, fled scene undetected. Value of loss: $400.
Vehicle Burglary. Aug. 11, 11:34 a.m. 0 block Brookhurst. Victim parked/locked vehicle in north parking lot at Mile Square Park Recreation Center. When victim returned noticed unknown suspect(s) had used a tool to break passenger side door lock and remove property without permission. Value of loss: $200. Property damage: $1,000.
Vehicle Burglary: Aug. 12, 6:45 p.m. 0 block Brookhurst. Unknown suspect used a screwdriver to break front driver's side window, entered vehicle and took victim's purse before fleeing area undetected. Property damage: $500.
