$10K Signing Bonus Offered For New Fremont Police Officers
Fremont is competing with departments around the area and across the nation, as an officer shortage worsens.

FREMONT, CA — The Fremont Police Department has a new recruiting slogan, "You serve the public. We serve you." And the City of Fremont, along with the Fremont Police Association, is backing up that new slogan with a $10,000 signing bonus for newly hired Entry-level, Academy Graduate, and Lateral Police Officers.
New Fremont officers will receive $5,000 when they're hired and the remaining $5,000 after successfully completing probation.
Current employees are eligible for a $1,500 total referral bonus — $750 at time of candidate’s hire and $750 after candidate’s successful completion of probation.

Fremont Police Chief Kimberly Petersen has made recruitment a top priority with a dedicated recruitment website that introduces candidates to the department’s culture, career growth opportunities, and more.
Fremont has a lot of competition. Between 1997 and 2016 the average number of police officers across the country dropped 11 percent. That pits departments against one another in the recruiting process.
