14-Year-Old Passenger Dies Days After East Bay Crash: Police
The crash happened on Sept. 11, police said.
UNION CITY, CA — Police say they're investigating a crash in Union City Friday that left a 14-year-old girl dead.
The girl was riding in the front seat of a silver Mazda sedan when it collided with a large commercial box truck near Alvarado-Niles Road and Decoto Road just after 8 a.m., the Union Police Department said.
The girl was hospitalized in critical condition, police said, adding that they were notified Monday that she died from her injuries.

"The Union City Police Department extends our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and all those impacted by this tragic loss," the agency said in a statement Monday.
Both drivers remained at the scene following the crash and cooperated with the investigation, police said. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to have been factors in the crash, police said.

This marked Union City's third traffic death this year. Union City police ask that anyone with more information about the crash contact the agency at 510-675-5264.
