3 Small Bay Area Earthquakes: Did You Feel Them?

The earthquakes all happened Monday afternoon. Here's what the U.S. Geological Survey has to say...

BAY AREA, CA — The United States Geological Survey is reporting three earthquakes Monday afternoon, the first with a magnitude of 3.3, the second at 2.9, and the third at 2.6. They were reported at 1:27, 1:29, and 1:43 p.m.

The first two were centered near Milpitas, at a depth of about 2.6 miles. There is no immediate word on which fault slipped. Both the Hayward and Calaveras faults run nearby. There are also two minor faults in the area: the Mission and Silver Creek faults.

The earthquakes were felt as a jolt, as opposed to a rolling motion.

The third was centered in Saratoga.

There haven't been any reports of injuries or damage due to the earthquakes.

The earthquakes on Monday follow another in the East Bay Sunday night. A 2.6 temblor was reported in Alamo around 10 p.m.
