3 Bay Area Residents Each Win $25,000

FREMONT, CA — Even losers can transform into winners with the California Lottery.

The lottery holds weekly drawings for losing scratch-off, SuperLotto Plus and Fantasy 5 tickets.

For the popular scratchers, tickets are chosen at random — each is then worth $25,000.

There were eight winners chosen in December, four of whom were from Northern California, including three in the Bay Area:

• John Spillane of San Francisco
• Ebony Smith of Stockton

The four Southern California winners:

• Angelina Rodriguez of Moreno Valley
• Maria Mendoza of La Habra
• Maria Quintero of El Monte
• Alexandra Khasaempanth of Corona
