4 More Coronavirus Deaths In Alameda County

The number of new cases in the county is also increasing, as the state notched the highest one day total ever.

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — Alameda County health officials announced four new coronavirus deaths in the county on Thursday, bringing to six the number of new deaths announced since Monday. Since the start of the pandemic, 146 county residents have lost their lives to the illness.

Newly diagnosed cases are also on the rise. Since Monday, 552 new cases have been confirmed through testing, bring the total number of cases to 7407.

California reported a record 9,500 new coronavirus cases today, the most in one day in the state since the beginning of the pandemic. California's death toll is now 6,724.

There are currently 145 people hospitalized with COVID-19 complications in the county, and 479 throughout the Bay Area. Of the 145 people hospitalized here in Alameda County, 51 are in intensive care units.
