Niles Canyon Reopens After Solo-Car Crash

The wreck was reported west of Palomares Road.

FREMONT, CA — Both directions of state Highway 84 in unincorporated Alameda County reopened this morning following a solo-vehicle crash that closed traffic in both directions, according to officials.

The California Highway Patrol said the collision was first reported at 5:05 a.m. just west of Palomares Road and the highway is closed from Mission Avenue in Fremont to Interstate Highway 680 in Sunol.

The Fremont Police Department previously said it expected traffic to be shut down for "hour or two while clearing."
