Accused Fremont Killer Charged With Murder, Attempted Murder

The accused man has a long criminal record.

FREMONT, CA — A Fremont man has been charged with murder and attempted murder in a double shooting last Sunday that left one man dead and a second hospitalized. Lorinzo Haley, 34, was captured by a community security camera running from the scene while holding a gun.

At 4 p.m. on Sunday, Fremont Police received a report of a shooting in the 34000 block of Fremont Boulevard. When officers arrived, they found two men on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officers provided medical aid to both victims before they were transported to local hospitals. One victim was pronounced dead, while the other was in stable condition.

According to a police statement, "As the suspect was shooting at the victims, additional rounds hit an inhabited dwelling, which nearly struck another victim inside."

Haley was arrested a short distance away.

Fremont Police Detectives recovered video surveillance from community cameras that showed Haley running away after the shooting.

According to police, "Haley has a lengthy criminal history, including arrests for robbery, battery on a person inflicting serious bodily injury, criminal threats, resisting an officer by threat or violence, and burglary."

The Alameda County District Attorney's Office charged Haley with four felony counts, including Penal Code 187(a) – Murder; Penal Code 187(a)/664 – Attempted Murder; Penal Code 245(a)(2) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon- Firearm; and Penal Code 246 – Willful Discharge of a Firearm at an Inhabited Dwelling.
