Alameda County Coronavirus Cases Inch Higher: 31
The number of cases continues to rise. In neighboring Santa Clara County, the death toll rose again Wednesday.
ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — Confirmed cases new coronavirus, or COVID-19, grew by 4 in Alameda County on Wednesday, according to the Alameda County Public Health Department. As of Wednesday afternoon, the number of county residents with coronavirus has now reached 31.
There are still no coronavirus-linked deaths in Alameda County.
In neighboring Santa Clara County, the death toll rose to 6 on Wednesday. The latest patient to die was a man in his 60s who had been hospitalized for more than a week.

In Contra Costa County, the number of cases briefly went down by one on Wednesday, from 39 to 38, because a patient from outside the county is no longer being treated there. However, updated numbers show 41 cases in CoCo.

A shelter in place order remains in effect for Alameda and surrounding counties.
Some residents are livid over the Tesla assembly factory remaining open in Fremont, despite the order. The Fremont Police Department reports, "We are currently communicating with legal counsel and coordinating with the County of Alameda, the Alameda County Public Health Department and Federal Government to better understand and interpret their guidelines in the face of a variety of other state and federal regulations. Per the County Order (Page 2, Section 3) businesses are allowed to maintain minimum basic operations. Above all, businesses are being asked to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for the safety of their workers as well as the public."
