FREMONT, CA — A trespassing call led officers to arrest two people suspected in a fatal shooting in Fremont more than three months ago, authorities said.
Ricardo Duran, 42, and Kaleb Soto, 19, were taken into custody on suspicion of murdering someone in the area of Central Avenue and Joseph Street in Fremont on Feb. 3, police said. This was Fremont's second slaying of the year, police added.
It's unclear what led up to the shooting or whether the suspects knew the victim. But investigators identified the two men as suspects in the shooting and secured warrants for their arrest, according to the Fremont Police Department.
Officers on April 4 responded to a trespassing call in Hayward and detained both suspects, police said. They were arrested on the warrant and turned over to the Fremont Police Department.
"Fremont Police would like to thank Hayward Police for their partnership and collaboration on this investigation," police said. "Anyone who witnessed or has information regarding this incident, please contact the Fremont Police Department by calling (510) 790-6900."
