NEWARK, CA — A six-year-old girl who police say was abducted from Newark on Friday night has been found safely, authorities said.
"We are grateful to report that the child has been located safely and is with her mother, Shobna Sharma, a spokesperson with the Newark Police Department told Patch. "Newark Police Department detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident, including the involvement of the child's father."
Police did not say whether the suspect, 24-year-old Donovan Blair, was taken into custody in connection with the incident.
"We are limited in the additional information we can provide at this time as this remains an active investigation," police said.
The California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert on Saturday morning, asking for the public's help in finding Blair and the girl, Deleyah Mendoza.
Police said at the time that the pair was last seen on Friday at around 11:30 p.m. in Newark.
Blair, according to police, was driving a 2009-2011 gray Honda Insight with the temporary license plate numbers 93742245.
