The arrest happened after a 16-year-old girl at the high school in the 5000 block of Mitty Way in San Jose accused Chiu of sexually battering her and recording it, police said. KRON4 identified the school as Archbishop Mitty High School.

Authorities launched an investigation into the accusations and secured warrants for Chiu's home and cars, police said.

Child sexual abuse material was found on Chiu's phone during the investigation, police said.

Police say school administrators were notified of the incident and is fully cooperating with the investigation, police said.

In a statement to KRON4, the Diocese of San Jose said their first concern "is for the student and family, and for all of our students and families."

"We recognize the impact a situation of this nature may have on our students, and the school's Counseling teams will be available to speak with students who may need additional support," the Diocese told KRON4.

Detectives believe that because of Chiu's position, there may be more potential victims. They ask that anyone who beleives may have more information contact the agency at 4576@sanjoseca.gov, and 4581@sanjoseca.gov or by calling 408-277-3214.
