FREMONT, CA — Police say they arrested a suspect accused of trying to kidnap a woman who made a desperate bid to escape by jumping from a moving car in Fremont earlier this month.
It's unclear whether the suspect or the woman knew each other before the alleged incident.
Officers received a report on Tuesday, Oct. 6, that a woman had jumped out of a moving car near Auto Mall and Cushing Parkways during a suspected kidnapping, according to the Fremont Police Department.
The suspect tried dragging the woman back into the vehicle, but failed, police said.
The woman, meanwhile, hid between cars in a nearby parking lot until officers arrived and took the suspect into custody on suspicion of false imprisonment, police said.
Police did not release the suspect's identity or say if the woman suffered any injuries jumping out of the moving car.
