Audition For Ohlone College Play, Perform In Scotland

FREMONT, CA — Here's an interesting opportunity — if you are cast in a new play at Ohlone College, you'll get to perform the play at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Edinburgh, Scotland next year. According to the college, the festival is the largest and most prestigious arts festival in the world.

The play is a new work specifically written for Ohlone students by nationally recognized playwright Eugenie Chan. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, 6 - 10 p.m. All roles are available. For an audition time, please email auditions@ohlone.edu. Drop-ins are also welcome.

Auditions will be held in the Smith Center at Ohlone College, 43600 Mission Boulevard, Fremont, CA 94539. Actors should prepare a 90-second monologue. Callbacks will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Rehearsals will begin on September 3, 2019. Rehearsals will mostly be held Monday through Thursday from 6 -10 p.m. until tech rehearsals, then rehearsals will include Fridays and Saturdays as well. Performances will be Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8 p.m. starting Nov. 8, 2019 to Nov. 17, with a possible extension until Nov. 24. There will also be a matinee performance on Nov. 12, 2019.

Pickup rehearsals will be for 2-3 weeks in July 2020, and the tour will be for 12 days in early August 2020, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

All cast members must enroll in TD 124-01, which is a 4-unit class. Information on registration and fees. In addition, cast members who travel to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe will be required to cover their cost for the travel abroad opportunity.
