The shooting happened "following a pursuit that ended on eastbound SR-84, west of Newark Boulevard," the CHP said in a news release. "The vehicle being pursued had been reported stolen and was associated with an armed robbery. The suspect, who was in possession of a firearm at the time of the incident, sustained fatal injuries."

While the CHP is the primary investigating agency into the officer-involved shooting, both the Fremont Police Department and the Alameda District Attorney’s Office will conduct independent investigations.
