In 2010 the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that employment of interpreters and
translators is expected to grow 42 percent from 2010 to 2020, faster than the average for all occupations. Job opportunities should be best for those who have professional certification.
Join this growing career field by taking Ohlone’s series of Spanish interpreting courses.
Students completing these courses will receive a valuable industry-specific Certificate of
Completion, along with employment and career placement information.

Workshop Title: Become a Spanish Language Medical Interpreter
Description: Designed to teach professional interpretation of medical terminology. Students will learn a large number of medical terms to prepare for the high-demand career of
interpreting in a medical environment.
When: Saturdays, September 12-October 31 & April 9-June 4 (No class May 28)
Time: 9:00am-12:00pm
Fee: $169 + $80 for materials* per session (curriculum repeats each session)

Workshop Title: Become a Spanish Language Legal Interpreter
Description: Designed to teach thousands of legal terms, and how to interpret and sight
translate important court documents, such as the advisement of rights, the Miranda warning,
the oath, and the arraignment. Students will acquire real-life experience through legal mocks.
When: Saturdays, September 12-October 31 & April 9-June 4 (No class May 28)
Time: 12:30pm-3:30pm
Fee: $169 + $80 for materials* per session (curriculum repeats each session)

Workshop Title: Become a Spanish Language Administration Interpreter
Description: Learn the terminology most used in administrative hearings performed at
workman’s compensation offices, Department of Motor Vehicles, disability offices, Social
Security offices, and unemployment offices.
Dates: Saturdays, May 30-July 25 (no class 7/4) & January 30-April 2 (No class 2/13 & 3/26)
Time: 9:00am-12:00pm
Fee: $169 + $80 for materials* per session (curriculum repeats each session)

Workshop Title: Become a Spanish Language Immigration Court Interpreter
Description: This class is designed to teach professional interpretation of immigration
terminology. Learn about the terminology needed for removal proceedings, appellate reviews,
administrative hearings, individual hearings, expedited hearings, and internal relocations.
Learn about master calendar hearings, all of this will be taught in Spanish and English.
When: Saturdays, May 30-July 25 (no class 7/4) & January 30-April 2 (No class 2/13 & 3/26)
Time: 12:30pm-3:30pm
Fee: $169 + $80 for materials* per session (curriculum repeats each session)
