Booze Thieves Hit Safeway, 1 Arrested

A second suspect got away in a silver Toyota RAV4, police say.

FREMONT, CA — Police arrested one suspect and are looking for a second suspect who robbed a Safeway store Wednesday in Fremont, police said.

According to police, an 18-year-old man stole alcohol from the Safeway supermarket located at 39100 Argonaut Way. When a loss prevention officer stopped him, the suspect resisted and physically assaulted the
officer.

The suspect was then detained in handcuffs and taken to a security office at the store. When police arrived, they arrested the man on suspicion of robbery and he was taken to the Fremont Jail, police said.

A second suspect left the store before police arrived. The suspect is described as a white woman, 130 pounds, with blonde hair. She was last seen leaving the store in a silver Toyota RAV4, police said.
