Bystander Pulls 4-Year-Old Boy From Fremont's Lake Elizabeth

The child was playing on rocks around the lake with no parent in sight.

Fremeont, CA - A child was saved from a near-drowning accident Saturday at a lake in Fremont, according to police.

Police said a call came in regarding a possible drowning at Lake Elizabeth involving a 4-year-old boy who had been pulled from the lake with no parents around.

According to police, the boy had been playing at a nearby playground and got separated from his parents.

Police said a nearby citizen witnessed the boy playing on some rocks near the shore when he suddenly fell into the water and did not resurface.

The citizen was able to reach in and pull the child from the murky water after he had been submerged for about 10 seconds, according to police.

The child was not injured during the incident and was reunited with his father, who had been looking for him. The boy was checked by Fremont firefighters before leaving with his family.
