1:30 PM – 3:30 PMHear Yukio Shimomura share his experience during WWII, and how Executive Order 9066 impacted his family.  His family was moved from San Francisco and incarcerated in detainment camps in San Bruno at Tanforan Race Track, and Topaz, Utah. Learn first hand about life in an Internment camp and how the family left the camp and where they eventually settled.
<ul><li>There were110,000 people incarcerated and 110,000 stories. This is a snapshot of one family.&nbsp;</li><li>A verbal presentation with 60+ slides.</li><li>This presentation is coordinated with One Book, One Coast, the largest book club on the west coast. See <a href="https://lacountylibrary.org/one-book-one-coast/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">The One Book, One Coast website</a> for more information about this multi-state event.&nbsp;</li></ul>
About Yukio:&nbsp;
<ul><li>Born in San Francisco, in grade school when World War II started.</li><li>Family was incarcerated and was interned to a camp in San Bruno (Tanforan Race Track), CA and to the camp near Delta (Topaz), Utah.</li><li>Relocated to Ogden, Utah where he graduated high school.</li><li>Attended Weber State University and Utah State University and earned a Bachelor Degree in Manufacturing Engineering. Worked at HP as an engineer and transitioned into Human Resources.</li><li>Held several positions in American and Japanese electronic companies, his last position was a director of human resources. 🎾Orange Ball Tennis (Ages 8-12) (Novice Level)
Ready to introduce your child to tennis in a fun, supportive setting? Our Orange Ball Tennis (Novice Level) program at Euro School of Tennis uses an innovative, age-appropriate approach to help new players build confidence and skills from day one.
Using Orange Balls to slow down play, students can focus on developing strong fundamentals in a non-competitive environment. Our energetic and professional coaches emphasize:
✔️ Forehand &amp; backhand technique ✔️ Proper serves &amp; volleys ✔️ Movement and court positioning ✔️ Tennis etiquette &amp; scoring
By the end of the session, players work toward playing full, non-competitive singles and doubles matches on a 60-ft court — building both skill and love for the game! 🧡

Our Intermediate Teen Tennis Stars program is an excellent opportunity for young players ready to advance their skills. Open to ages 9–14, this course is best suited for students who have previous tennis experience and can maintain consistent rallies.
For the greatest improvement and confidence on the court, we encourage players to combine group training with at least one private lesson per week.

It is a day that transcends differences, bringing together citizens from all backgrounds.
The Tri-Valley Interfaith Council invites you to a reception, light dinner, and a program of prayers from many faith based leaders. They thank event sponsor Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert.
