At the Fremont City Council meeting on September 14, 2021, an awards ceremony was held to recognize Fremont’s achievements toward improving traffic safety. Representatives from the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) presented the Fremont Vision Zero Program with the “Project of the Year” award from the Western ITE District and the “Transportation Safety Achievement” award from the national ITE organization. Over the past five years, the City of Fremont has achieved a remarkable 45% reduction in fatalities and severe injuries caused by traffic crashes. ITE is the largest organization of transportation professionals representing over 16,000 members around the world.
