Media Pitch: 50,000 Voices for Mental Health Awareness,
Dear Editor,
What if 50,000 people came together to sing for mental health awareness?
I’m Mike Zhun Guo, founder of The Hug & Cry Initiative. Our goal is to bring together 50,000 singers to promote compassion, emotional expression, and social connection through music.
On October 22, 2026, I hosted a Zoom meeting with participants working in compassion, peer support, trauma-informed initiatives, and community mental health.
I’m sharing the original meeting article for background. Would your media outlet be interested in covering this initiative and helping us recruit singers and community partners, or report the Oct 22nd meeting ?
Thank you for your consideration.
Best regards, Mike Zhun Guo @Hug & Cry , SF/ NY

The answer to homelessness is housing. The path to getting there is collaboration.
Kathy Kimberlin, Fremont City Councilmember D3, was privileged to host her second Fremont screening of Beyond the Bridge, a powerful documentary exploring homelessness and the solutions that are achieved through collaboration. Many thanks to her stealth co-organizer Dr. Richard Godfrey.
Mayors made up the post screening speaker panel: Raj Salwan-Fremont, Mike Hannon-Newark, Gary Singh-Union City, and Mark Salinas-Hayward were invited to come together to share successes, challenges, and innovative ideas for addressing homelessness across our communities.
Alameda County Supervisors David Haubert and Elisa Marquez welcomed guests, shared their thoughts, and support at the Fremont Downtown Event Center.
Q&A offered an engaging opportunity to share perspectives and explore regional work for solutions. The audience reflected representatives from local city management, Alameda County and city staff, local law enforcement, and organizations including Citizens for Better Community, Fremont for Everyone, Abode, Tri-City Interfaith, SAVE, Melino Foundation, Thomas Flemming Tiny Homes, BACS, Fremont Chamber of Commerce, Tri-City Ecology, Move Mountain View, and more.
Heartfelt Thank-You to the sponsors of Beyond the Bridge screening event in November 2025 and October 2026: Supervisor David Haubert, Supervisor Elisa Márquez, Republic Services, Cargill, Citizens for Better Community, Washington Health, Abode Services , and Billy Roys Burgers.
Thank you to the Tech Crew and community members who participated and continue to work toward collaborative solutions that provide various levels of affordable housing, dignity, and support for our unhoused neighbors.
