Cold Case: Seeking Justice For Murdered Teen

It's been 35 years since Kellie Jean Poppleton vanished from the corner of Darwin Drive and Fremont Boulevard. Someone knows something.

FREMONT, CA — Authorities with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office are asking for the public's help in solving a 35-year-old cold case.

Kellie Jean Poppleton was only 14 when she was found dead in the Sunol area of unincorporated Alameda County on Dec. 2, 1983. Sunday marked the 35th anniversary of the case, which remains unsolved.

Poppleton attended Conrad Noll Elementary School in Fremont. She was last seen on the corner of Darwin Drive and Fremont Boulevard.

Her body was found almost 13 miles away next to Kilkare Road.Witnesses reported seeing a black Pontiac Trans-Am near the crime scene before her body was found, according to the sheriff's office.
