Deadly Fremont Crash Involved Fremont, Modesto Drivers

FREMONT, CA — A Modesto man died in a two-vehicle collision in Fremont on Monday night, police said.

Erik Mora, 53, died following the collision at Niles Boulevard and Hillview Drive.

Police were called at 8:27 p.m. following multiple 911 calls. One vehicle was traveling south on Niles Boulevard while the other was traveling east on Hillview Drive, according to police.

The vehicle on Hillview was turning left onto Niles when the collision occurred. Both vehicles hit an unoccupied parked vehicle and one of the moving vehicles hit a home, according to police.

The home sustained minor damage.

A 19-year-old Fremont man extricated himself from one of the vehicles. He was injured and was taken to a trauma center, but is expected to live, police said.

Fremont firefighters extricated Mora and tried to save his life, but he died at the scene.

Police said alcohol or drugs may have played a role in the collision. Officers are waiting for medical records and toxicology reports.
