About Shonali's Academy of Music & Arts
The richness of Indian culture can be found in its music and art. Shonali's Academy of Music and Arts is dedicated to providing quality education in Indian classical and light music for students of all ages. At Shonali's Academy emphasis is given on understanding each student's strengths and imparting training based on individuals needs. The class size is limited and individual attention is given to each student. At the Academy, students can learn vocal music, dance, a variety of musical instruments and Hindi. We also conduct aerobics classes based on bollywood numbers. Shonali Srivastava, daughter of flautist Shri Girija Shanker, is a well know artist of Bay Area. She is appreciated both in field of music and dance. Shonali has won many awards and recognitions for her performances. Shonali started stage performances at an early age of three. She did her MA in Hindi Literature and BA in Sociology and Education, from Lucknow University. She has done two year Post Nipun (Masters) Tabla studies with scholarship from Department of Cultural Affairs, U.P. Govt. from Bhatkhande Music University, Lucknow. She holds a Visharad (Bachelors) in Vocal Music from Bhatkhande Music University, Lucknow and Prabhakar (Bachelors) in Kathak from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad India. Shonali has taken advanced classes in Tabla from the great Tabla masters Ustad Zakir Hussain and Pandit Swapan Chaudhary. She has attended a Kathak (North Indian Classical Dance) training with Pandit Birju Maharaj, the best in the field. She has also learned Indian folk and light music from a reputed grade "A" artist of AIR.
