Dr. Dhana Uppula Honored as 2018 MVROP Teacher of the Year
The MVROP Governing Council and Superintendent Hanson presented this special award at the October 18, 2018, Governing Council meeting.

FREMONT, CA- It is a special time of year when school districts have the opportunity to celebrate their best and brightest teachers. The celebrations began this year on October 4th at the Alameda County Office of Education's Gala honoring the nominees for the 2018 Teachers of the Year. During this event, Mission Valley ROP staff, Governing Council Members, and loved ones came out to support Dr. Dhana Uppula as the 2018 MVROP Teacher of the Year.
Dr. Uppula has held her students to a high degree of professionalism and has continued to share her vast medical industry knowledge in her classroom for 14 years, helping to guide her students into successful careers post high school. She believes in the value of Career Technical Education (CTE) and during her time as a Medical Occupations Instructor for MVROP on the James Logan High campus, has admitted her students teach and inspire her on a daily basis as well. She is grateful to have the opportunity to utilize her experience and expand the realm of possibilities for her students.
As she graciously accepted her award during the October 18 MVROP Governing Council Meeting she smiled while saying, "Students in my class come expecting to learn not only about medical occupations but to also find direction for their future. High school junior and senior students begin thinking about how they envision their future and start making decisions that will impact their future careers. In these critical years, the right teacher can help guide and mentor them on the right path. I feel a great sense of achievement when my students are successful in whichever career they wish to pursue."
