Email Scam: Fremont Issues Warning
Someone is pretending to be City staff in an effort to receive fraudulent payments.
FREMONT, CA — The City of Fremont is warning residents and those who do business with the City's Planning Department to beware of an email scam that appears to come from an official City email address.
"The City of Fremont has recently learned of an email scam involving persons posing as City staff to receive fraudulent payments from permit applicants," the City warns.
"When in doubt, do not engage with a suspicious email. Instead, contact the City by visiting the Department Directory on the City’s website. Some City departments/divisions have a staff contact list available on their main department/division webpage as well."
All City email addresses end in “@fremont.gov.”
For questions or concerns, contact the City’s Planning Division by email.
