Extra DUI Patrols For Super Bowl Sunday Planned In Fremont
If you have plans to watch the big game with family or friends, make sure a sober ride home is included in your game plan.
FREMONT, CA — If you're a football fan, it doesn't get better than having your home team in the Super Bowl.
Whether you'e heading to a local sport bar to cheer on the San Francisco 49ers or to a gathering with friends and family, the Fremont Police Department reminds you to "intercept impaired driving" if alcohol is on the menu.
The “Go Safely” game plan offers three steps:
- Plan Ahead by having a designated sober driver.
- Share a Ride by choosing BART, the bus, a taxi, Uber or Lyft.
- Keep Your Friends Safe by stopping them from driving impaired.
If you're not feeling inspired yet, the Fremont Police Department wants you to know that they will have additional officers on patrol looking for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
“Let's make sure Super Bowl Sunday is remembered for great plays on the field, not for unnecessary risks on the road,” Lt. Ramin Mahboobi said. “Before you grab a drink, plan ahead for a sober designated driver. Choosing a safer way to go is a win-win for everyone.”
Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
