Free Personal Emergency Preparedness Class Next Week

Sign up now for this class that will cover gas, electric and water shut-off; fire extinguishers; earthquake readiness and more.

FREMONT — The City of Fremont’s Fire Department is offering a free Personal Emergency Preparedness (PEP) class in 2019 that will teach you how to take care of yourself and your family before, during, and after a disaster.

In just a single three-hour class, you will become an expert in:

· Earthquake and Disaster Awareness

· Gas, Electric and Water Shut-off

· Hazardous Material Awareness

· Fire Extinguisher Types

· Smoke Detector Placement

· Sheltering In-place

Community members can attend any one class that works for their schedule. Classes are offered during the week and on a couple of Saturdays. Weeknight classes are from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will take place at the Fremont Fire Administration Office, 3300 Capitol Ave. in the back of Building A on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, January 22
  • Tuesday, March 19
  • Wednesday, May 22
  • Tuesday, July 16
  • Tuesday, October 15
  • Monday, November 18

Saturday classes are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Fremont Fire Training tower, 7200 Stevenson Blvd. (west end) with hands-on training beginning at 12:30 p.m., on the following dates:

  • Saturday, April 13
  • Saturday, August 17
