Fremont Launches New Digital Platform

FREMONT, CA — The City of Fremont launched a new community communication platform last week to serve as a hub for residents to interact with city staff and provide feedback on city projects.

The digital engagement tool is called MyFremont, and replaces a previous online system, according to Geneva Bosques, Director of Communications and Legislative Affairs for the city.

The platform is designed to let community members participate in ongoing discussions, communicate directly with the city, and learn about events, projects and more.

"Fremont is pleased to roll out a new community engagement tool that will provide our city as well as community members with a safe online platform to communicate with our staff and provide feedback, build relationships, and foster community growth," City Manager Karena Shackelford said in a statement. "We're eager to receive community feedback on citywide initiatives that will be instrumental in shaping and ultimately guiding our city forward as we make decisions to better Fremont."

For example, residents can currently share input on a proposed update to the city's animal ownership ordinance that would allow additional chickens, goats and bees on residential properties.

Upcoming additions will feature opportunities to weigh in on topics such as the Fremont Police Department Annual Community Survey, a Climate Action Plan update, a new Geographic Information System Strategic Plan, and the Sabercat Trail Extension Project.

The software is part of Engagement HQ, which is offered by the Denver-based software company Granicus.

MyFremont will also be used to present interactive maps and timelines for construction and other projects in the city, according to the statement from Bosques.

Subscribers to the city's previous communication platform will not be automatically transferred, so city officials are recommending residents, business owners and community members sign up for the new service at https://www.my.fremont.gov.
