Fremont, Milpitas Crews Battle Vegetation Fire On I-680
Emergency crews battled a vegetation fire off of Niles Canyon Road in Fremont Tuesday afternoon.

FREMONT, CA – Emergency crews battled a vegetation fire off of Niles Canyon Road in Fremont Tuesday afternoon as officials warned drivers to avoid the area for the rest of the day.
Firefighters from the Fremont Fire Department, Alameda County Fire Department and the Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit worked to stop the fire, which was in extremely step and rocky terrain, according to the Fremont Fire Department.
Officials said the fire reached the northbound area of I-680 south of the Scot Creek exit on the border of Milpitas and Fremont.

As crews put out the fire, they worked to extinguish hot spots and improved containment lines, officials said.
Fremont and Milpitas firefighters are mopping up a vegetation fire on northbound I-680, south of the Scott Creek exit on the border of Milpitas and Fremont.
