Fremont Named One Of The Safest Cities In CA

FREMONT, CA — Fremont has been named in the Top 100 safest cities in the state of California, coming in at 60, according to SafeWise, an online safety resource, which analyzed data from California. For perspective, the Golden State has a total of 482 municipalities. Newark landed at 67, while Union City is 123.

To compile this report, SafeWise analysts reviewed the most recent 2017 FBI crime statistics and census population data. The evaluation is based on the number of reported violent crimes in each city per 1,000 people. If there was a tie, they also factored in the number of property crimes including burglary, and car theft. Cities that fell below identified population thresholds or failed to submit a complete FBI crime report were excluded from the ranking system.

According to the SafeWise analysis, there are 236,368 residents living in Fremont, but only 1.82 violent crimes per 1,000 people, and 21.50 property crimes per 1,000 people.
